DIY CNC Video

Posted by on 8 September 2009 | 4 Comments

Here is a short video of the router in action. I have been having problems finding small router bits so have modified a 1.4mm drill bit and am using it to route some 2mm thick acrylic. You can see a little bit of flexion in the drill due to the speed of the table. After the video I tweaked this down a little so as to ensure a cleaner cut and hopefully not snap the tool.

  • It looks very good. Too bad you don't have a proper bit. Why not shorten it to make it more rigid?

  • James Waples: The router i used was a cheap $70.00nz touer that was striped down and had most of the casing chopped off.
    Seems to work well

  • Is that a standard router you are using or is it a special CNC milling spindle?

  • That is pretty quick considering the size of your mill.
