Blog » DIY CNC More Testing
A few more test while i come to grips with the software and the types of tools. I have just made a simple modification to the collet that will now allow me to use any of the dremel type bits and this should recude the costs as well as enable me to use much finer bits.
The first picture is of my sons name engraved into a peice of MDF. the depth of the cut is 10mm andn the height of the lettering is approximatly 24mm for the R. The routing bit used was a 6mm drill bit that was ground down to 3mm then what was left of the 2 flutes were sharpened with a dremmel.

The next image is of the Evilgenius Logo engraved into a peice of Teak I had laying around I used a 3mm ball bit to engrace this however i suspect the wood was not level as there is a slight diference in the depth of the engraving from top to bottom. The frame is 50mm X 50mm and the depth is 1mm. I will see if i can get a smaller bit or a tapered bit as i think this would look much better with a smaller diamiter bit.
